| Nurul Sharmin Ahmad Zahari

Nurul Sharmin binti Ahmad Zahari graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Islamic Studies with Honours (Shariah) and a Diploma in Islamic Judicial Administration and Legal Profession from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). 

She completed her Shariah Attachment for Sharie Lawyer at Messrs Zulfiqri Zakaria & Co in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, and was accredited as a Sharie Lawyer in the State of Malacca in 2016. She subsequently commenced practice as a Sharie Lawyer at Messrs Adli & Co in Bachang, Melaka, where she served from 2016 to 2021.

During her legal practice at Messrs Adli & Co, she gained practical advocacy experience and assisted in handling mentions and trials in  Shariah Lower Courts, Shariah High Courts, and the Shariah Appeal Court in Malacca. Her exposure included the following matters:

Fasakh, Cerai Secara Baik, Pengesahan Lafaz Talak, Eddah, Mutaah, Nafkah Anak, Tunggakkan Nafkah Anak dan Isteri, Kembali Taat, Nusyuz, Saman Penghutang Penghakiman, Iktiraf Nikah, Iktiraf Nikah Poligami, Hadhanah, Permohonan Interim Hadhanah (Ex Parte dan Inter Parte), Harta Sepencarian, Pengesahan Hibah, Faraid, Permohonan Komital, Permohonan PerlaksanaanPerintah, Permohonan Kebenaran Untuk Melanjutkan Tempoh Rayuan, Permohonan Penggantungan Pelaksanaan Perintah, Tangkap Khalwat, Melahirkan Anak Luar Nikah. Prepared written submission for Shariah Lower and High Courts’ proceedings and the Shariah Appeal Court’s proceedings.

Prepared case documents for case proceedings at Shariah Lower Courts, High Courts and the Shariah Appeal Court. Advised clients on legal rights, obligations, and procedural matters. Taught and mentored court procedures to practical Law students and Junior Sharie Lawyers.

One of her outstanding accomplishments in her legal career was having one of her cases published in Jurnal Hukum Edisi Khas Sempena Persidangan Kehakiman Dan Perundangan Syariah Nusantara Tahun 2020 (Special Edition of the Jurnal Hukum in Conjunction with the Nusantara Shariah Judicial and Legal Conference 2020), highlighting her practical expertise and contribution to Shariah legal expertise. 

She then further strengthened her professional and academic credentials in law by obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from UKM, enhancing her ability to provide informed, authoritative legal advice and solutions to clients.

In addition to her legal practice, she has a strong passion for academia. She enjoys teaching court procedures to practical students and Junior Sharie lawyers. In pursuit of this interest, she was then offered a position as a Law Lecturer at the University of Melaka (UNIMEL), Kuala Sungai Baru, Malacca, where she served from 2021 to 2023. 

During her tenure, she was invited to deliver talks on multiple occasions at the Faculty of Law, Governance, and  International Relations to share her expertise and insights with students and colleagues at UNIMEL

She founded Sharmin Zahari & Associates on March 3, 2024, and later joined Lydiana Law Chambers as an Administrative Legal Secretary, further developing her expertise in Shariah practice. With the Managing Partner of Lydiana Law Chambers granted permission to accept Shariah cases in Malacca, she is actively expanding her practice, to become a Shariah Lawyer in Johor and establish a reputable Shariah division at Messrs Lydiana Law Chambers.
